Classic 'film style' corner light leak

Light leak with a difference. These have a corner effect to help use as a wipe. maxing out to white - so ideal for compositions. They are in the style what you used to get on an old super 8 mm cine camera or 16mm film. With rotation / mirroring it can be any corner of course. Mixed with a lens flare on that corner, even better.

Created with a low level sun, near the Arctic Circle where you get the best light for these kind of effects.

You can download it in 1080p HD Quicktime format from here:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/ozh9o5s5h92nnyc/film_style_corner_leaks.mov

If you like this and want more then you can go to the whole archive of lens flares and light leaks here.

They are offered under creative commons. Read more here. If you are super kind and get something out of using these then please donate a small amount and I can do some more. If you use them for commercial projects then you should pay also...

They read it, so you don't have to

If you haven't already checked it out, you may like to visit - www.readthrough.com

You upload your script and the site reads it out. Sure, Final Draft can kind of do that too but this site has more voices and some neat options such as turning off the action descriptions.

Even better, they can read out the script for you, using actors. ALL FREE. Fantastic.

Podcast Episode 31: A Book Special

This episode of the podcast myself and Danny Stack have a special guest; Mary Evans. Mary is a scriptwriter, but also has done a lot of research into self publishing books AND is also a writer for the TV Times.

It is in two halves really.
1 - How does writing prose and articles slot into the scriptwriting life?
2 - How can you self publish your own work?

Arctic glass abstract backdrop - a tripping curving light leak - to download

The first two of these was very popular so here is a third kind - not for wipes, but to use as a backdrop. As before 3 things made up this light leak to create something so intricate.

1 - the sun from the Arctic Circle
2 - a copper parabolic dish
3 - handmade glass shape over the front of the camera, no lens.

The result - a dancing spiral light leak. It has a look of sub-atomic particle trails or plasma. Ideal as a background / backdrop / composite over titles or footage OR speed up for a crazy wipe!

You can download it in 1080p HD Quicktime format from here:

The last one of these was very popular so here is a second variation. As before 3 things made up this light leak to make it so intricate.

1 - the sun from the Arctic Circle
2 - a copper parabolic dish
3 - handmade glass shape over the front of the camera, no lens.

As before there are 4 different in this 1 clip. Each has a different hue and maxes out to white so you can use these as wipes / dissolves by compositing over your transitions.
