hi!i found your bolg insightful...i just shot a five min film on 16mm...my first ever. So i am looking at the entire process once again through the insights discussed by you....
As a novice film student, I am also intimidated by the methodology of writing scripts. I write keeping a final vision of the story i want to tell. Before i write a word down...i think. The moment i feel uncomfortable or rather being taken over by the story...i stop and review it.
i believe in not explaining too much...
in short,i am not dismissive of the graphs and structures to a story.i too use them to understand a story....i nice to demystify a screenplay...but would not get bogged down by it ..if i have a good story to tell.
until...my next film and the lessons i learn...
looking forward to your posting.
Peace

I likes, I likes.

Memento and The Machinist are two excellent films that are part of my collection. It's good to break down and challenge the way you write, always. Finding your process is so important. Before you can get validation from the masses you must get it from yourself.
